If your pet passes away naturally or before a scheduled home visit from our vet, we are still here to support you.
We provide a respectful home collection service for individual cremations—treating your pet with the same love and respect as our own.
Areas covered: Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham, Chesterfield, Wakefield, Doncaster and surrounding towns and villages. Being local means we can be there when you need us most, with same-day visits whenever possible.
Our process is designed to support families during this difficult time. Pets at Rest has two options for families who have suffered the loss of a companion at home.
Option 1: Return Home Service (including collection, individual cremation and your pet's own ashes returned home)
We bring warm, gentle bedding so your pet rests comfortably in our care. We quietly transport your companion directly to our partner crematorium for individual cremation, before collecting their ashes and personally delivering them back to your door in your chosen urn, keepsake, or scatter tube.
Option 2: A Calm Farewell Service (including collection and group cremation)
We arrive to collect your pet and conduct their final journey to the crematorium on your behalf. Your companion will have a peaceful group cremation with other pets, and their ashes are respectfully scattered at the crematorium. We cannot return the ashes of a group cremation
Memorials & Keepsakes
We also offer a thoughtful range of keepsakes and urns to memorialise your pet's life and legacy.
Our collection visits take place between 9:00am and 4:00pm, Monday to Saturday (Sunday visits may be possible upon request, if a team member is available).
Please note: for larger dogs over 30kg, we will kindly ask a family member to assist with lifting, guiding you through this step-by-step with complete care and dignity.

Please know there is no need to rush. Take all the time you need to pause, reflect, and say goodbye at your own pace.
When you feel ready, a few gentle steps can help:
Keep them comfortable: Place your pet gently on a towel or blanket in a cool, quiet room away from direct heat. You may wish to open a window slightly for ventilation.
Be prepared for natural changes: As a pet’s body relaxes, it is completely normal for them to release their bladder or bowels. This is simply a natural part of letting go—placing an extra towel beneath them will keep them clean and resting comfortably.
Allow other pets to understand: Letting companion animals quietly sniff their friend can help them comprehend the loss.
